A pen for me

I have been using my very first pen, which was a friction polished Padauk cigar pen. I decided I wanted a nicer pen to carry around so I made this one. It is a CA finish cigar pen that has one of my best finishes yet.

Pen for the wife

This is a slimline pen in Tulipwood with a CA glue finish. For non turners, CA glue is basically superglue that is applied and after it dries makes a hard plastic like finish that is very durable and once sanded to a high gloss looks like glass.

Odds and ends

These pens are made in the "European" style of pen. The reddish wood is Padauk and the lighter wood is maple. I am not a big fan of the european pen style now that I have made a few. These pens have a friction polish of shellac.

Dogwood Pen and Pencil set

This is a set that was made from the same tree for my father. This is a "Cigar" style set. This set also has 5 coats of hand rubbed lacquer as a finish.

Dogwood pen and pencil set

This is a "slimline" set of pen and pencils that were made from the Dogwood tree that grew in our front yard in Vienna, VA. The tree died a few years back and I saved a section and finally was able to make something worthwhile out of it. The set has 5 coats of hand rubbed lacquer as a finish. This set was a Christmas present for my mother.
